Work

Buckinghamshire Archives were privileged to work with a cohort of talented artists, creatives and volunteers over the course of this project. This team took the research conducted and used it as the inspiration for pieces of art intended to engage audiences with the stories we had uncovered in different ways. It was also used as an opportunity to creatively explore many of the unanswered questions the research had posed about the lives of LGBTQ+ Victorians and imagine where they might have found joy and self-expression in their lives.

Created by audio producer Brid Addison-Child, delving into the research process and imagining some of the unheard voices of LGBTQ+ individuals from the time

Created in partnership with Unbound Theatre and writer CJ Halse, a half hour piece of touring theatre looking at a story from the 1890s

Created by artist Paul Sammut, with a snapshot of several different stories and the wider context of Victorian Buckinghamshire.

Created in-house by the team, detailing all of the significant research and stories uncovered and hosted in ten locations across Buckinghamshire
