Exhibition

One of the most important pieces of the puzzle, when it came to sharing the research project with the public, was the question of how to make all of the stories from the research available in an engaging and accessible way.

To make this possible the archives team decided to curate and design an exhibition which platformed with all of the key stories the research uncovered, shared the various documents and photographs which had been uncovered, and also engaged with some of the complex themes and discoveries which were made about the lives of LGBTQ+ people in the Victorian era.

The end result was a seven panel A1 touring exhibition, which was reproduced ten times and can currently be found in the following locations across Buckinghamshire:

Buckinghamshire Council Offices (Walton Street)

Buckinghamshire Council Offices (The Gateway)

HMP Grendon

HMP Aylesbury

High Wycombe Library

Beaconsfield Library

HMP Aylesbury

Buckinghamshire Archives currently has copies of the exhibition available for loan.

If you represent an organisation which is interested in a loan, then please do feel free to get in touch with us at archives@buckinghamshire.gov.uk to organise this.

In order to share the research with as many people as possible the archives have also decided to make a digital version of the exhibition, which is accessible below.
